Cho-Oyu peak (8204m) Himalayan expedition of Trekking Club 

In spring 2007 a Trekking Club company in association with Nepali partners announce its next mountaineering expedition which aim was to climb the sixth highest worlds peak of Cho-Oyu in Himalaya . The height of Cho-Oyu is 8204 meters above sea level.

A team of climbers consisted of 4 mountaineers from Ukraine and Kazakhstan :

It was decided to use a Tibetian route to the top, by the Western ridge.

Preparation of the expedition started in 2006 Autumn, and during the preparatory period all necessary equipment for the chosen route type was collected: in the Himalayan events like this the Trekking Club team uses only up-to-date outfit and tents, light climbing gear etc. A cellular station was installed in a base camp for the connection to the outer space. An ultra-short-band stations were used to provide a connection between that base and high-altitude camps. Team members also used Internet for picture, video and data transmission.

The most time- and labour consuming period in the mountaineering expeditions takes the preliminary handling of the route, acclimatization of members and setting of altitude camps. Though, all the program was done in an exact planned period and followed the schedule. The mission took 45 days: from 8^th March to 20^th May of 2007. At a height of 5700m, at the foot of the mount a base camp was set – all the acclimatization, high-camps setting and route handling marches started here.

The team reached a summit of Cho-Oyu on 8^th May, have started from camp2 at a height of 6900m.
