  • Almaty offers a whole range of landscapes - from glaciers and the highest peaks of the Tien Shan to deserts. Spring and autumn are the best time to explore the Altyn-Emel National Park, known for its amazing natural phenomena - the Singing Dunes, the ancient Katutau volcano, the chalky mountains of Aktau with their Martian views.
  • In spring, the endless Kazakh steppe blooms. In late April and May, you will witness the blooming of tulips and poppies. This is a truly unforgettable sight - vast expanses covered with a carpet of yellow and red flowers.
  • Explore all the tributaries of the Charyn River - the famous canyons. Not only the most popular Valley of Castles, which is often compared to the Grand Canyon, but also the lesser-known canyons of Temirlik, Bestamak (Red), Zhabyr (Yellow or Moon) - all of them are unique and worthy of your attention.
  • Don't miss the interesting historical sights of our region - such as the famous Zharkent mosque, built without a single nail in the Chinese style.
  • Visit the pearls of the Kungey Alatau ridge - Kolsay and Kaindy lakes. And relax in the thermal springs with a view of the mountains!
  • This tour is organized on request and only for you. The guide accompanying you throughout the tour will focus on your needs, interests and safety. You can fully enjoy personalized service and comfort.

what to expect

What to expect

  • Kazakhstan is a huge country, distances are long, roads are not always up to standard and traffic can be chaotic. Even though we use new comfortable cars with experienced drivers, you should be prepared for long journeys on poor quality roads, especilly in Altyn Emel and Charyn areas. In some parts it can be a full off-road.
  • We pay special attention to food on the tour. Breakfasts and dinners are served in guest houses. Lunches can be organized as a picnic (in the conditions of the hike/drive) or in a local cafe.
  • The conditions in the guest houses are basic, but quite comfortable: we accommodate in double rooms with WC/shower facilties in each room.

The lake was formed in 1911 after a huge earthquake that resulted in a big landslide from the eastern slope. The uniqueness of the lake is that after the rise of natural dam that blocked the gorge, water that filled a basin has formed a lake but has not destroyed the spruce that had been growing in this place along the river. The upper parts of the trees sticking out of the water lost lateral branches and bark, and the wood became white. The lower part of the “drowned” pines retained branches that were overgrown with algae under the water, thus created fantastic underwater landscape.
Late afternoon back to the same guest house. Take dinner and stay overnight.
